About Us
Karen Jurjevich, founder
Karen is an experienced professional in the education sector and graduate of the Stanford Executive Program. She has earned diplomas in Integrative Thinking and Finance from the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto and holds degrees from the University of British Columbia and Western University.
From 1998 to June 2024, Karen served as Principal of Branksome Hall, an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School in Toronto, Canada. Karen also served as the CEO of Branksome Hall Global, encompassing the Toronto campus and Branksome Hall Asia on Jeju Island, South Korea; a school she co-founded in 2012.

Her many accomplishments include the introduction of the IB Program to Branksome Hall, the first Toronto girls’ school to implement the renowned program. Under Karen’s leadership, Branksome Hall saw the successful completion of a fundraising campaign in 2015, which led to the opening of an award-winning, $40 million dollar Athletics and Wellness Centre on the Toronto campus.
In May 2024, Karen completed the largest fundraising and construction project in Branksome’s history: iCAST – Innovation Centre and Studio Theatre, scheduled to open in 2025. Thanks to an historic $5 million dollar gift, the building will be named in Karen’s honour.
Karen serves as a Corporate Director on the Board of Fairfax Financial Holdings (FFH-TSX), a global leader in insurance, reinsurance, and investment management. She has served on a number of not-for-profit boards, including the International Coalition of Girls’ Schools (ICGS), the Canadian Accredited Independent Schools (CAIS) and the Conference of Independent Schools (CIS). She is a contributing author to the IB Publication, Learning Across Frontiers and has represented Branksome Hall globally as a speaker on topics ranging from International Education and Canada’s Foreign Policy (Canada House, London UK) and Employee Wellness Programs (Canadian Chamber of Commerce, Hong Kong).
Karen is the 2023-24 recipient of the Canadian Accredited Independent Schools (CAIS) Art of Leadership Lifetime Achievement Award as well as recipient of The Association of Board Schools (TABS), Ruzicka Leadership Award.
